Back to school

After missing school for 3 weeks, Caden us back today! As a token of appreciation for Mrs Lee & Mrs Lim who visited him in hospital, we bought them cookies.

Caden was very excited to go back to school. When I fetched him home, he was very happy to show me a surprise from his girlfriend, Joand. She had specially made a card for him, together with a box of Oreo. What made him even happier is that there's new seating arrangement in class. And she's sitting beside him!

He went for his doctor review in the afternoon. Dr Ong said that his lungs are clear and can consider him fully recovered. He commented that it's uncommon for boys his age to contract bronchitis & pneumonia. Caden also put on weight after discharge. He's now at 17.4kg. Hope he'll eat more n put on more weight!

Before bedtime, Caden wanted to reciprocate Joand's wishes by drawing a card for her. I helped by printing a photo of them together to paste on the card. Also added a Hello Kitty toy to give her. Hope she'll v happy to see it tomorrow.

Out to Play

It's been weeks since Caden went out to play. This morning, we brought them to MacDonald's for breakfast. They then asked to go to the playground at Chartwell.

They played for a while as there were workers who were about to clean up the fallen leaves. It's more than enuf to make them happy...

Caterpillars

It's a quiet n relaxed week. Caden skipped school and enrichment classes this week to recuperate at home. Brandon also skipped his soccer training on Monday to recover from his cough. Alicia rescheduled her English class on Wed as she went on an excursion with the school to watch a Chinese play.

So what have the kids been up to this week? Mummy helped Brandon's class order caterpillars to monitor the life cycle of a butterfly. Bought extra sets for my kids too. They are so excited n watching over them daily. It's amazing that few of them hv developed from caterpillars to chrysalis. Waiting for them to turn into butterflies so that they can be released into the Eco-garden.

Pneumonia

Missing for almost 2 weeks... To think that I was happy when Caden started coughing after his fever. When the fever didn't subside on Friday, 14 Mar, I consulted Dr Leong over the phone. He advised that a chest x-ray and blood test should be done to further identify the problem. So, we headed to Mt Alvernia Hospital's A&E Dept.

After the chest x-ray and blood test, Caden was diagnosed with pneumonia. Oh my god!!! He had to be warded for further observation.

And there we were... for the next 9 days. He was finally discharged on Sunday, 23 Mar.

This brave little boy did not cry when he did the blood test. When Dr Ong inserted the cannula onto his left hand, he also didn't kick up any fuss. It was very funny as he told the doctor, "I won't cry, but you must promise me you'll only poke one time!" Haaa!!! Dr Ong replied, "Wah!! I'm so stressed now! I'm hving high blood pressure u know?" And luckily, he did it successfully.

His fever subsided after a few days and there was sign of recovery from the coughing. However, his oxygen saturation started dropping and had to be put on the oxygen mask, especially at nite.

He had visitors who brought him balloons and toys. He made all the visitors entertain him by playing board games. Even his principal and teacher visited him.

The stay was made easier with the Mickey decorated room. He imagined it to be a Disneyland staycation. The mini bath tub in the toilet also made him happy.

It was a blessing that the hospitalisation coincides with the March school holidays. But, to Alicia & Brandon, they were so bored at home. Mummy stayed in the hospital for the whole period and didn't hv time to bring them out to play.

He was discharged just in time for the school next week. However, he's gonna stay at home for another week to recuperate before I let him return to school.

The interim bill came up to be $13k+. Woah!!! Imagine how much I hv to fork out if he's not covered under insurance...

Full Blown

Yes... Cough and phlegm are here to visit Caden.

Brought him to see Dr Leong this morning and he was given antibiotics. He's still hving fever cos of the lungs infection. But good thing it's not dengue fever. He's also happy that he doesn't need to hv a blood test.

Get well soon!

High Fever

Oh my Caden!

He's been running a fever since we returned fr the staycation. Daddy said he must hv caught a cold fr the swimming n cold wind at the Skypark Infinity Pool. Amongst us all, he's the only one without any fats. Haaaa... True.

As usual, his fever gets super high at nite. He talks non-stop even when I sponge him at 4am! I've been self medicating him but decided to bring him to Mt A on Monday nite. Even the doc said he seems ok!

He's hving high fever again now. Will hv to bring him for a blood test tmrw, as advised by the doctor. Hopefully, it's jus viral fever and not dengue.

Get well soon, my darling!

Hot weather!

The weather is so hot and dry these few weeks.

I've been giving the kids barley water, ice-cream and cold fruits to cool them down.

Today, Brandon cldn't take it and requested to remove his shirt. Aiyo... This fat-de-fat boy. He looks so fleshy with his shirt removed!

No Crowd USS

After swimming this morning, we went to USS. Woohoo!!! No crowd! It's been a long time since we enjoyed the rides without hving to q.

We took the Transformers ride, Sesame Street, Madagascar and Shrek 4D. Daddy made Brandon take the dragon roller coaster with them. We had lunch at New York Pizza, shared 2 churros and refilled 4 bottles of drinks!

As the sun began to shine real hard on us at 2+pm, we quickly left for 99's place.

The kids did some Chinese work before playing. We then had dinner at TM with 99 and all.
