SAFRA Jurong

Arranged a date out with Alicia's friend, Shermaine to SAFRA Jurong on 14 June. The kids hv been wanting to play at the Kids Amaze for a long time.

They were initially v excited n climbed up & down non-stop. Alicia & Shermaine, however, stopped playing after a short while. They prefer to play with their hand phones!

We had lunch at the Gelare Cafe before heading to the nearby Jurong Point's Popular Bookstore to get few books on sale. Shermaine followed us home & the girls continued to play together.

I also brought them down to cycle for a while. Alicia asked Shermaine to join her for dinner. They wanted to dine at Sushi Tei.

By the time we sent her home, it was about 8pm.

Not Studying for SA

Alicia has been hving so many homework this year that its so difficult to get her to do assessment papers.

Her SAs are starting the week. However, over the weekend, she just didn't seem keen to study. Brandon, as usual, will take pains to complete his assignment.

I gave up - really. I I didn't force them to do additional assignments nor look they their notes.

Daddy, Caden & I took a short afternn nap while the other 2 watched TV.

The only thing Brandon wanted to do was his art homework - a caterpillar.

Inter-Schools Scrabble Competition Finals

Alicia's team made it to the Scrabble competition grand finals. She had to report to school by 7.20am this morning. The competition was held at Downtown East D'Marqee till 5pm.

Daddy & Mummy sent Alicia to school together. Took a photo of her & Natasha, her partner in scrabble.

We brought the boys down at 3+ to give her our support. We waited anxiously together for the results. The P2 team did well & got runners' up. Although Alicia's team did not win, we were glad
1. Alicia did well by being selected for the competition.
2. Their team did well in the preliminary rounds to get a spot in the finals.
3. Alicia experienced butterflies in the stomach, realising the importance of a competition. (Jus like mummy!)
4. The team lost and the kids learnt that life is not smooth sailing. They hv to go through success and failures.
5. Alicia took responsibility by making an effort to learn n practice hard for the competition.
6. Alicia din take it too hard and accepted the loss gracefully.

Well done, Alicia!!! ζˆ‘δ»¬ζ°ΈθΏœζ”―ζŒδ½ !

We went to T3 for dinner. Alicia agot to choose the venue as it was a celebration for her. We ate at Itacho Sushi. They also played at the long slide after redeeming the coupons. Although Daddy & Mummy were so full from the dinner, they still insisted on us getting them ice-cream! Bought a 2 scoop for them to share.

By the time we reached home, it was 9.20pm. Everyone's so tired, including Mummy. After washing up, they are all asleep now.

Creative Writing

I didn't know that Alicia can write so well.. Until I saw this piece on the board of her class. Teacher Arina encouraged her to write a piece well enough to be put on the board. And she did so in class!

Well done, Alicia!!

She completed her work early this week during her class and Teacher Arina agreed to play a game of scrabble with her before the class ends. And, haaa.. With Mummy's help, Alicia won!!! She was so happy!

Scrabble Competition

Alicia was selected to participate in the Inter-School Junior Scrabble Competition with a few of her schoolmates. This is the first year that she's competing.

She was very nervous the day before the competition. After she came back from school, she took out the scrabble board and played with Caden.

I went out for dinner with my friends. She messaged me and told me that she's very nervous. No matter how I persuaded her to relax, she just doesn't understand that winning is not important. Daddy had a pat talk with her after he came home from work.

On Saturday, the butterflies in the stomach started in the morning. She woke up very early and kept finding work to do.

Daddy & Mummy sent her to school together. We picked her up after the competition to bring her out for dinner. The nervousness seemed to be still there, but much better than the day before.

Hope she'll learn and be able to be calm for future such events.

Monthly Dates

It's friendship day today. For Alicia, at least.

Daddy let me use the car today and hence, I suggested to Shermaine's mummy to let the girls hv their mthly lunch date. Fetched the kids to Swensen's @ NEX for lunch after school. Can tell that they r v happy; chatting non-stop.

In the evening, we went to Uncle Wong's house for visiting. By the time we were home, it's 10.30pm. The kids r all so tired. After washing up, they r almost off to dreamland now.

But the adults still hv to wait to ζ‹œε€©ε…¬... Another late nite...

Angbao from Alicia

Daddy & Mummy received angbaos too this year. They're given by our darling girl, Alicia.

On the nite of ε€§εΉ΄εˆδΈ€, she passed us 2 angbaos. We were so touched by her gesture. She took coins out from her piggy bank n placed them into angbao for us.

I cldn't find the angbao on εˆδΈ‰. Daddy guessed that she must hv kept it cos he scolded her earlier on. When we asked her on εˆε›› when we were out, she giggled and admitted that she had took it back! She returned it when we reached home. Haaaa!!! Daddy knows his girl best!!!

We love you Alicia!!!

Nick Vujicic

We were talking about some topics and Alicia commented that she wants to read Nick Vujicic's book - Life Without Limits.

While waiting for the boys to finish their Berries class this afternoon, I bought the book from Popular. She was very happy when she dug my shopping bag for stuff after I returned home.

I'll try to read the book every nite too. Hope to find some inspiration to lead a better life.

Day 2 of school

Kids went to school as per yesterday. However, something happened when I picked them up fr school.

For the past few months, I've been picking Alicia & Brandon fr Gate C. The teachers who dismissed the kids yesterday said that P2 will b at Gate A today. Alicia also told me that P3 will b dismissed at Gate A. Hence, I specifically arranged with the kids that I'll fetch them at Gate A today.

It was so crowded n messy at Gate A. Brandon was the 2nd class to b dismissed. We waited n waited but cldn't see Alicia. I went over to Gate C to find her but no sign of her too. Most kids have gone home by 1.30pm. I called home to check if Alicia had walked home alone. Nope... She's not home yet. As it started to drizzle, I sent Brandon across the road to wait at the void deck. Went back to school to look for Alicia - general office, canteen, bookshop, concourse, security post. Ran here n there but still no sign of her. Called home again but mum said Alicia is not home yet. I repeated the search again. Just then, Er gu called me to say that Alicia is home already. I was relieved. And it started to pour!!! Ran across the road n walked the sheltered walkway home with Brandon.

This is the 2nd time that Alicia walked home alone. Reminded her to wait at the general office or the security post next time if she didn't see anyone fetch her. Made me worry for nothing...

Had lunch and told Brandon that I'll b teaching him Maths today at 4pm. He didn't really make noise. After they bathed, I called him into the room at 3.50pm. He said it's not time yet. Heeee... And he really guai guai went to the room to sit at 4pm. He was very good n cld do the questions without me prompting the answers. Halfway thru, Daddy came home fr work. He's off early cos there's D&D tonite. There goes my effort in making him sit still...

Not too bad for a start. Hope that he'll continue to put in effort in his home tuition.

New glasses for Alicia

Alicia lost her glasses at Movie World Gold Coast. Brought her to J8 to prescribe new ones today.

Daddy took pm leave so we got ourselves a chauffeur plus ATM. πŸ˜„ Before J8, we went to the school to buy the balance of the books.

Took her to 3 shops before she decided on 1 pair. The boys were curious when the optician checked her eyes. Not sure why, but the degrees were different from what she was tested at a diff optical shop in July 2013. It was 25/50, 50/50 then but only 25, 25 today.

We shall see how this new pair of glasses will aid in her vision.

Annual doc review

Today is Alicia's annual review at NUH. Left the 2 boys with the maid at home and it's jus Alicia & me today.

We waited for a while. Good thing she brought a book along to read while waiting. In general, everything seems fine. She's at a whopping 40.3kg and standing at 139cm now. We'll see her again next year.

I ordered lunch from Zushi Bar and maid brought the boys down to collect. Alicia & I then went to J8 after the appointment.

Wanted to bring her for nice food but she insisted on the omelette rice. Ok lor. Then bought a cup of soya bean drink to share. Next we went to make new stickers for her belongings for next year, went Popular to collect the textbooks, went grocery shopping etc. She wanted yoghurt so I bought a take home pack.

Was so tired by the time we reach home. Aunty said the boys were very well behaved at home. Great!
