Happy 8th Birthday, Brandon!

My boy is 8 years old today!

He wanted a cake fr Icing Room so that he can decorate it on his own. Mummy bought fresh strawberries and washed them b4hand.

Caden tagged along and helped to decorate it too. Boys will be boys... Without Alicia around, they just can't do a pretty job! Well... at least it still looks good.

Happy Birthday, Brandon! May you grow strong & healthy & stay happy always. Daddy & Mummy love you!

Birthday celebrations

Had a pre-birthday celebration dinner at Sushi Tei last nite with Daddy's family. Other than Brandon, it was also for Da Gu's upcoming birthday.

We then cut cake at home for Da Gu.

Today, it was supposed to be the day the kids get their birthday presents from Da Yi & Small Yi. They were hesitant - bicycle or toys. Mummy was also reluctant to hv 3 bicycles at home. Imagine hving to lug 3 bikes to Bishan Park?? 😰

They dilly-dally at Toys R Us and only Alicia managed to get something she wants. The boys? Next time lah...

We had home cooked pasta at 99's house, followed by cake cutting.

Dolphin Discovery

The kids were excited over our trip to Dolphin Island today. They woke up at 7am!

Caden was slightly below the min height of 115cm. We managed to convince the staff at the Guest Services Counter, who got approval from the Manager & Trainer. But, once we got to Dolphin Island, the staff there doubted us and asked for approval again. Once we got in there, there were doubtful eyes again! Phew!!! After 3 rounds, Caden managed to join us!

We were briefed by the staff on the Dos and Don'ts. We were also shown a 6-min video to let us know more about dolphins. After we got into our wetsuits, each group was assigned to a trainer & a dolphin. We were lucky to get 2 dolphins - Ruyi & Rocker.

The less than an hour of interaction with the dolphins was great! We were all given an opportunity to play & kiss & touch the dolphins. Alicia & Brandon were very brave and I could tell that they really enjoyed themselves. Caden was abit hesitant when he was 1st asked to touch the dolphin. After some warm up, he was ok.

Our interaction was photographed by their official photographer. I'm glad he managed to capture very special moments! It was worth spending $175 on those photos!

Long MRT journey

Last minute, Daddy suggested I bring the kids over to Yew Tee to meet him for dinner. We'll then we pop by IFC to take a look at dining chairs.

We took the MRT from Lor Chuan and changed at Bishan. All the way to Yew Tee, they stood by the windows/door. Almost an hour of train ride, the longest for them so far.

They were enjoying the view from the window. They started playing "chopsticks" after Woodlands station. I was asked to play too. We were so engrossed that we nearly missed our stop!

We had dinner and decided against going to IFC cos only realised then that the shop we wanted to go to has closed down. Daddy bought the kids a watch each and they were so happy!

All wanted to go home early to rest so that they'll hv enuf energy for the Dolphin Adventure tomorrow. As a birthday present for the kids, we've booked a session for all of us. Really looking forward!

Inter-Schools Scrabble Competition Finals

Alicia's team made it to the Scrabble competition grand finals. She had to report to school by 7.20am this morning. The competition was held at Downtown East D'Marqee till 5pm.

Daddy & Mummy sent Alicia to school together. Took a photo of her & Natasha, her partner in scrabble.

We brought the boys down at 3+ to give her our support. We waited anxiously together for the results. The P2 team did well & got runners' up. Although Alicia's team did not win, we were glad
1. Alicia did well by being selected for the competition.
2. Their team did well in the preliminary rounds to get a spot in the finals.
3. Alicia experienced butterflies in the stomach, realising the importance of a competition. (Jus like mummy!)
4. The team lost and the kids learnt that life is not smooth sailing. They hv to go through success and failures.
5. Alicia took responsibility by making an effort to learn n practice hard for the competition.
6. Alicia din take it too hard and accepted the loss gracefully.

Well done, Alicia!!! 我们永远支持你!

We went to T3 for dinner. Alicia agot to choose the venue as it was a celebration for her. We ate at Itacho Sushi. They also played at the long slide after redeeming the coupons. Although Daddy & Mummy were so full from the dinner, they still insisted on us getting them ice-cream! Bought a 2 scoop for them to share.

By the time we reached home, it was 9.20pm. Everyone's so tired, including Mummy. After washing up, they are all asleep now.

Good Friday

It was Good Friday yesterday. We spent the day at home instead of going out. Alicia & Brandon had lotsa homework to complete. They spent the whole morning doing!

I prepared a few Easter activities for them. Had initially planned an egg-painting activity for them. But changed to colouring on a printed egg instead cos it was too tedious to drip out the eggs!

Although it was just simple activities like Egg-maze, cracking of eggs surprises & painting, I'm glad they enjoyed themselves.

Mummy went out to Aunty Shirley's house while they played Xbox. With mummy on leave, Daddy helped tuck them to bed.

Slight runny nose

Caden has slight running nose since Sunday. I made him take afternoon naps and he skipped school on Tuesday. He also skipped Berries on Tuesday and Abacus on Wednesday.

He insisted on going for his Pre-Creative Writing class in the evening although it was raining. Asked him to put on long sleeve in case it's cold. He chose this set of clothes! Teacher Arina praised him for looking great and that made him very happy.

This boy is growing... He asked for chocolate roll and milk after class and finished them all before bedtime.

Creative Writing

I didn't know that Alicia can write so well.. Until I saw this piece on the board of her class. Teacher Arina encouraged her to write a piece well enough to be put on the board. And she did so in class!

Well done, Alicia!!

She completed her work early this week during her class and Teacher Arina agreed to play a game of scrabble with her before the class ends. And, haaa.. With Mummy's help, Alicia won!!! She was so happy!

Conjunctivitis

Brandon woke up with a swollen right eye this morning. Decided to let him skip school today and visit the doctor instead. This is despite the fact that he has an Oral test today.

Dr Leong confirmed its conjunctivitis and warned that its contagious. He gave Brandon 2 days of MC.

I spoke with the Chinese Teacher and we agreed that he should take the test tmrw morning and go home straight after that.

Who knows, she called an hour later and apologised saying that the Level Head advised against it. As conjunctivitis is contagious, they'll let him miss the Oral and indicate as Valid Reason in the report card.

I'm not sure whether I should b happy or sad... In a way, I'm glad he din hv to go thru stg which he's bad in. In another, he's already put in much effort practising the Oral and it's a good chance for him to test how he's improved so far.

Well...
